Sound art night with performances by:

Sonae - I Started Wearing Black
Sonae presents her new album »I Started Wearing Black« that celebrates release April 13th on Berlin based label Monika Enterprise.
"What are the ghosts of this music? It rustles, crackles, ruffles, crunches, rattles, scrapes, sometimes a beat emerges from the constant noise, sometimes an obscure voice mumbles incomprehensibly, sometimes a melancholy piano figure is prevented by this noise from coming too much to the foreground. It definitely is eerie" Klaus Walter

Janneke van der Putten - JNNK
Janneke van der Putten will take us on a journey of vocal noise - an intense acoustic performance where she explores a range of vocal sonorities and on-site acoustics.

FARWARMTH
The young artist Afonso Arrepia Ferreira writes the soundtrack for life, death, what lies in between and what may lie beyond. Under the name FARWARMTH, he released his record IMMEASURABLE HEAVEN this year, an album that somehow embodies both the earthly and the celestial; its supernal atmosphere and weighty, dense harmonies often reveal the more modest and intimate sounds within. In between cello, piano and flutes, the application of textured electronics results in a kind of natural distortion that feels like it’s the result of his music overpowering the mixing board. The record emphasizes the beauty of being such a small part of something much larger, the bittersweet reality that our lives are so insignificant, yet reminds us that we still matter.

Ephemeralities: Listening Being(s)

…an “open composition” (work-in-progress) featuring material that highlights psycho-acoustic phenomena, and processes that unfold via very gradual changes. The public presentation follows a three day workshop in which beating, clusters, density, transparency, and other aspects of sound (including listening to the local environment) will be intensively explored. The audience is invited to come for any length of time between 11.00-14.00. Several versions of the piece will be played during this time, with breaks in between.

Binaura - Bricolage

Within this lecture performance, different areas & concepts will be covered that I am investigating in my artistic and educational practice. Software based interpretations are completed with textual descriptions and verbal connotations, raising questions, critical thinking and philosophical aspects of our data driven society. The central role of our journey is focusing on "algorithms" and "system thinking", involving ancient algorithmic concepts, chance operations, computational design, visualizations using cutting edge machine learning techniques made with free and open source tools.

Andreja Andric - Pocket Electronic Symphony

Smartphone solo recital featuring Pocket Electronic Symphony #1 and other works for smartphone. Pocket Electronic Symphony is a smartphone symphony for a solo performer. The symphony is written as sound generating software which acts both as the score and the musical instrument. Using this software on the mobile phone, the performer changes the parameters of the sound generation process, navigates the successions of massive chords of synthesized sound and builds towering climaxes and suspenseful calm sections. The work tries to create a new kind of symphonic sound for the mobile age and to find new space for passionate, dramatic and grand musical expression. Guest: Martin Lau (Berlin), sound poetry / vocal improv.

Christian Duka - HOLISTIC 3.0
HOLISTIC is a collaboration between sound artist Christian Duka and Visual Artist Marco Maldarella. Through the intuitive combination of A/V art in live improvisation, each instance of HOLISTIC explores concepts relevant to our present era in relation to the human condition.
Holistic 3.0 - Noise Culture will be an immersive audio/visual experience made to portrait the delirious plethora of views, thoughts, opinions, aesthetics and perspectives of the modern, interconnected digital age - in all of their diversities and contrasts. Its aim is to give voice to the noise generated by each and every individuated humanoid aliens inhabiting planet Earth in 2018.

Mario Verandi - Yguasu
A live electroacoustic performance with sounds of the Iguazú waterfalls and the subtropical jungle that surrounds them. Field recordings and electronic sounds merge to create a sound journey that moves between the real and the surreal.
